Contraste Europe is the official DocOrigin partner for Belgium, France, and Luxembourg. This strategic alliance allows the company to support public and private organizations in modernizing their document management systems.
As part of the modernization project for the City of Charleroi, the SmartDigiDocs team was entrusted with the complete technical implementation of the DocOrigin solution, from planning through to production.
Background
Charleroi, a city with a rich industrial heritage, is now a dynamic metropolitan hub and the social capital of Wallonia. As a major administrative center managing communications with over 200,000 citizens, updating its document infrastructure was essential to improve service performance, reliability, and quality.
Challenge
The city was relying on outdated systems (Adobe Central and Adobe LiveCycle ES3), which were no longer suited to its growing needs:
- Limited capacity for high-volume printing
- Poor print quality due to the use of text elements in image format
- Incompatibility with existing templates
- Lack of modern features (e-signatures, web forms, dynamic workflows)
Project Goals
- Migrate legacy IFD and XDP templates without disrupting business systems
- Generate documents by merging XML data and dynamic templates
- Handle both PCL and PDF outputs with full printer control
- Support integration of existing workflows and resources

The SmartDigiDocs team led the implementation, including:
- Migrating Adobe Central and LiveCycle templates to DocOrigin (XATW, JPS)
- Validating and restructuring XML inputs via custom scripts
